Just a few weeks ago weather experts were forecasting the coldest winter in six years, this week the bookies are slashing the odds on what could be Britain’s hottest Christmas!

Goodyear commemorates 30 years of the all-season tyres with new inventions

Who knows what the UK weather has in store for us over the coming weeks, but this uncertainty plays into the hands of Goodyear as it gears up to celebrate its introduction of the first all-season tyre 30 years ago.

To mark the event, Goodyear has partnered with artist and inventor Dominic Wilcox to reinvent typically one season items and make them fit-for-purpose all year round. The outcome of this venture, including solutions for umbrellas, barbecues and convertible cars, can be viewed at the website.

One of our favourites is definitely the skateboard adapted with a blow torch to melt the snow!

The popularity of all season tyres has grown steadily over the decades, with Goodyear expecting demand to continue to grow as there is a growing awareness and understanding of the importance of having tyres which can handle unpredictable changes between wet and dry conditions, sudden temperature changes and can even cope with snow.

Whilst other tyre manufacturers have introduced their own all season variants, Goodyear’s current Vector range continues to win plaudits in independent tests and from OEM manufacturers, as shown in the latest all-season test carried out by leading English magazine ‘Auto Express’, where Goodyear has taken the crown once again with the Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 tyre.

Applauded as an ‘all-rounder offering peace of mind’ and ‘a balanced tyre with excellent performance in all circumstances’, the Vector 4Seasons Generation-2 is designed and engineered to offer drivers great performance in all weather conditions, including dry, wet, slushy, as well as snowy and icy roads.

Independent test results have also demonstrated that the tyre shows a 6 per cent shorter braking distance on wet and an 8 per cent shorter braking distance on snowy roads compared to the average of its three leading competitors.

etyres supply and fit a wide range of all season tyres to suit all vehicles and budgets and as independent tyre experts we are free to offer impartial advice to help our customers make the best choice to suit them.
