As we approach the Easter bank holiday weekend, our etyres mobile tyre fitting teams are busy fitting new caravan and motorhome tyres to vehicles across the country as many owners get set to enjoy their first road trip of the year.

We are pleased to see that TyreSafe, the UK’s leading tyre safety awareness group, has released an online tyre pressure calculator for owners of these leisure vehicles.

With more than half a million caravan and motorhome owners expected to be heading out on the roads over the coming days, the unique web form tool provides a valuable resource to ensure tyres are properly inflated for the journeys ahead.

It is simple to use and only needs three key bits of information in order to generate a recommended pressure:

1. Maximum Technically Permitted Load Mass
2. Number of road wheels
3. Tyre size and load index

All you have to do is click here to access the tool and enter your details. It can be accessed while you are out and about, allowing you to refer to the results while adjusting the pressures.

etyres has compiled two extensive sections offering advice, tips and information about caravan tyres and motorhome tyres. As well as checking tyre pressures, it is vital to ensure the tread depth of the tyres is above the legal minimum of 1.6mm across the central three quarters and around the entire circumference. Also make sure there are no visible signs of damage, such as cuts, lumps or cracks in the tyres.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, stressed: “A caravan’s tyres are a fundamental part of its suspension system and they also need to be able to deal with a range of issues relating to loading, making them a crucial element of the vehicle.

“It is essential to safety when towing a caravan that its tyres are roadworthy, at the correct pressure and have at least the minimum legal tread depth.”

etyres operate a mobile tyre fitting service, which is a perfect fit for caravan and motorhome owners who do not want the hassle of driving their vehicle to a garage and manoeuvring into a cramped bay. It doesn’t matter to us if your vehicle is parked outside your home, at a storage site or evening a holiday park, we will arrange a time to come to you and get the job done so can get on with having fun and making plans.
