Quentin Willson made an excellent point when he was launching Goodyear tyres 2011 Safety Tour the other day when he commented: “Say ‘road safety’ and people reach for the valium.”
Speaking as the tyres giant re-introduced its iconic Blimp to UK airspace Wilson stressed that motorists have had enough of speed-camera-politics and apparently disingenuous claims that these have delivered safer roads and not just higher revenues, according to Tyres and Accessories.
“The application of a blunt instrument like this means no-one is listening…It’s good to see a firm promoting safety,” he said, adding that road safety should be about education and not enforcement. “[Goodyear] is a strong brand therefore is really important in this.”
‘The Goodyear Safety Tour,’ which aims to promote general tyre safety and these kinds of issues will tour 20 European countries throughout 2011 to highlight the work of the tyre firm in improving road safety.
