The Russian tyre manufacturer Amtel Vredestein N.V
has announced that test production has begun at its new
Amtel-Chernozemye facility in Voronozh, months earlier
than initially expected.
The new factory is still undoing construction, but once
it is completed Vredstein will have invested
approximately $124 million in Voronezh. This estimate
includes the cost of new equipment, molds, tooling,
management systems and production planning, as well as
the construction and renovation of buildings in the
Amtrel expansion process.
Amtrel tyres are to be the first to be produced at the
new facility, with Vredestein and Maloya tyres to follow
as soon as the new rubber mixing equipment is installed
in December. The tyres are planned for export to Europe
as well as for domestic distribution.
The Voronezh facility is modelled after the Vredestein
Banden plant in Enschede, Holland, and encompasses a
total of 44,000 square metres. Amtrel Vredstein has
announced that the ‘Voronezh II’ will be one of the most
technologically advanced factories in Europe, producing
approximately 2.5 million passenger car and light truck
tyres per year. This figure is also estimated to
increase with additional investment o 4.1 million tyres
per year, bringing the total annual capacity at
Amtel-Chernozemye to over 7 million tyres.
As the number one tyre manufacturer in Russia and a
leading tyre producer in Europe, Amtel-Vredstein is set
to be vastly expanded by the production efforts at the
Voronezh plant. CEO Alexei Gurin announced: "Voronezh II
is a milestone project and the last major investment in
an aggressive multi-year program to dramatically expand
our production and distribution platform, as well as
transform Amtel-Vredestein into a modern producer of
premium passenger car tyres”.
