Toyo Sells Australian Interior Parts Business
31 May 07
Emily Henry
Contributing Writer Toyo Tire and Rubber Company have
announced that they will sell the automotive interior
parts business belonging to their Australian subsidiary.
The sale follows a decision made by Toyo’s parent
company in Japan in 1999 to discontinue their
involvement in the automotive interior parts business,
and this was applied to all Toyo facilities with the
exception of Australia. Toyo tyre and Rubber Australia
Ltd, Toyo’s Australian subsidiary, will focus solely
upon tyre sales and distribution once the sale of the
interior parts business has been completed.
The facilities that Toyo Australia has based in
Sunshine, Victoria will be subject to a managerial
change, as will the 69 Automotive Interior Parts
Business employees. The Interior Parts Business will be
taken over by a local company but, as yet, Toyo has not
released specific details concerning the new ownership.
The President and CEO for Toyo, Yoshio Kataoka,
announced that "the company will further strive to
increase its competitiveness, improving the managerial
base through enhancing "selection and concentration" in
the automotive parts business on a global basis".
