Michelin Energy E3A Tyres Tested Cost-Efficient

Contributing writer Michelin tyres have been tried and
tested, again… Auto-Plus says they are top for economy
and endurance, according to recent tyre tests.
French motoring magazine Auto-Plus conducted tyre tests
comparing the top ten leading brand tyres, and found
Michelin to be the most cost-efficient. The results of
the tyre tests showed that the Michelin Energy E3A tyres
boasted 20% more endurance than the other brands, and
60% more than the brand with the most expensive purchase
price.
The tyre tests were conducted on Renault Laguna 2 models
over a tough French terrain of 6,000 miles. Since the
Renault’s front-wheel drive offers increased protection
for the rear tyres, wear was recorded from the front
tyres and the data was compared.
Because Michelin’s low rolling resistance technology
increases road contact and decreases fuel consumption by
reducing the tyre’s resistance to the road, Auto-Plus
found the E3A to have the lowest cost-per-mile of the
ten brands. Michelin claims to be "innovating to
optimize tire performance during use", a process that
involves conducting research and innovating design in
response to the results.
According to Michelin’s statistics, one in every five
tanks of fuel is used to conquer rolling resistance. By
increasing the tyres ability to deform to the road, the
contact patch through which the forces required for
acceleration and braking are transmitted is better
utilized and the results are better handling and more
controlled fuel consumption.
In addition to being economically friendly, Michelin is
proud to be “green”, claiming that if all tyres utilised
the low-resistance technology, carbon dioxide reduction
would be equivalent to 80 million tons.
