Definition of C3M

The Michelin C3M process for manufacturing tyres uses a single, solid insert mould that reduces the process to a single phase instead of the traditional seven steps in tyre manufacturing.

The C3M process allows tread to be created with vastly improved accuracy, and the cooked tyre is the same as the raw one. The C3M process improves the performance balance between wear and grip, resulting particularly in refinements to high-performance radial tyres.

The C3M process manufacturing module needs only electricity, and no intermediate stocks are required for the single phase. Innovative, high-precision tyres can be made in even small series at lower cost.

The new technology of the C3M process is particularly beneficial to top of the range markets where specific technical requirements can be fulfilled with high precision despite lower costs.
