How etyres Works - The Process

etyres is primarily an Internet business but it also operates a call centre where orders for tyres or batteries for car or light commercial vehicles can be placed by telephone.

Customers can see a price list of tyres or batteries on the etyres website and select the ones that they wish to buy. If they buy on-line they enter all the relevant details such as personal details, the make, model and registration number of their vehicle and their desired fitting date and time.

They then move to a payments section to enter their credit card details. The credit card section appears to be on our website but in fact it is on the site of Data Cash Plc which is a specialist company that conducts secure credit card transactions.

DataCash send us the details of the transaction but not the final part of the number sequence on the Customer’s credit card.

If the Customer orders on the telephone they give all their payment details and these are put through a card terminal in our head office.

The order, placed by either of the above methods is then entered into the server at head office.

From there the details, excluding the final part of the credit card details, are transmitted by either email or fax to the Franchisee (or sub-contractor) in the area where the fitting is to take place. Details of the job are printed onto a form that contains delivery and proof of delivery notes.

The Franchisee orders the tyres from the supplier and contacts the Customer to make final arrangements about the fitting. In particular, the time that the fitting will be carried out.

The Franchisee then executes the fitting and the Customer receives the delivery note and signs the proof of delivery. Later the Customer receives a receipted invoice by email and a desktop link for easy access to our after sales programme of free puncture repairs and simplified re-ordering.

Initially, Franchise Partners arrange to have a meeting with our MD and perhaps other executives of Fleet Mobile Tyres, at which stage all questions can be answered and various scenarios discussed. The average requirement for initial investment is £25k, which includes a deposit on the van and all fitting and balancing equipment, etc., plus training, manuals, and various services such as discount group insurance. Once the franchise begins to operate, etyres claims only 5% of the revenues as commission plus 1% for national advertising.
