The Opportunity

Starting your own business is exciting, but it can also be daunting and that is why an etyres franchise offers a fantastic opportunity.

Since we launched etyres in 1999 we have established a tried-and-tested formula which our Franchise Owners have used as a springboard to success.

etyres offers Franchise Owners the chance to build their own business with the benefit of a trusted name in the tyre trade to work under and in 2011 our efforts were recognised when we won the prestigious British Franchise Association/HSBC Franchisor of the Year bronze award.

Tremendous success

Our franchise is proving a tremendous success with husband-and-wife and father-and-son partnerships, it also offers a sound investment for former military personnel and parents who want to secure a solid financial future for their off-spring by setting them up in business.

And with more than 30 million cars on the UK roads - all of which will need new tyres - etyres has proved to be recession-proof. Even when money is tight, tyres are a necessity not a luxury.

So if you have got good organisational skills, are prepared to work hard and are extremely customer focused, etyres will launch you on the road to success.

The Earnings Opportunity

The five projections below, which are merely illustrative, could represent years 1 to 5 but for some projections 2 and 3 could be achieved in the first and second years of trading. They are based on existing branch performance but could vary according to the specific local conditions experienced by a new Franchise Owner. More detailed projections and fully supportive information will be made available should you wish to further your enquiry.

How it Works

Our main target markets are:

Private drivers, on-line and through our national sales office.

Private drivers through our affiliates.

Company cars, either company owned, contract hired or under fleet management.

We have accounts established with the majority of the largest Contract Hire and Leasing Companies as well as dozens of smaller organisations in that field. These recognise our ability to deliver a top quality service at highly competitive prices.

To access the fleet market we have our own highly efficient computer system for monitoring the tyre wear on fleet cars. This precisely identifies the correct replacement date. As awareness of environmental issues grows, this system will be increasingly valuable.

Our on-line sales proposition through etyres.co.uk was the first of it's kind in the UK. We have maintained our ranking at, or near, the top of all the major search engines such as Google and Bing for over a decade.

Our online sales have increased every year. Other on-line retailers pad out their range of services with products such as wheel alignment because they cannot generate sufficient volume to remain efficient. We concentrate on two basic products; tyres and batteries and we excel in both. Our Customers are delighted by huge cost savings and the first class fitting service that our Franchise Partners provide at local level.

We continue to invest heavily in website development, search engine optimisation and the transition to tablets and mobiles. We use social media and video and we are adapting to Cloud Computing to enable our Franchise Owners to use increasingly sophisticated methods of monitoring and controlling their businesses. All this leaves our Franchise Owners free to deliver a first class service for our Customers. This is the vital ingredient in our success.

Totally different!

Success stories

Ashford

Barry and his son Steve joined etyres as a father and son partnership in September 1998 Barry runs a long established and very successful business so they had an ideal base from which to work. Steve runs the branch and Barry is a sleeping partner. Steve soon established a thriving business and quickly reached a point at which more vans were needed. 13 years later their business continues to grow. Long-standing business relationships like this are based on mutual trust and respect and are the backbone of the etyres business.

Basildon

Keith and Louise spotted our franchise opportunity and became Franchise Owners of the etyres Basildon territory in December 2008. Keith had plenty of previous business experience as a market trader. He saw that the Internet was revolutionising the retail sector and he wanted to be part of a business that could take full advantage of the opportunity. Keith and Louise's branch quickly became profitable. Right from the start feedback from customer surveys was very positive and this is confirmed by the high level of repeat business.

Brighton

Zeki and Tina became aware of our franchise opportunity and signed up as Franchise Owners of the etyres Brighton territory in January 2004. Zeki hails from Turkey where he was in business with his brother but he quickly made the transition to looking after etyres on-line customers. Tina has a hectic life as a senior buyer with a major retailer but she still manages to find time to assist with the administration of their busy branch. Zeki and Tina's five year franchise agreement came to an end in December 2008 and we were delighted that they wanted to renew for a second five year term. There was no cost whatsoever for this and we trust that there decision will be the same in December 2013. Etyres head office receives a steady stream of positive feedback from Zeki and Tina's customers.

Cambridge

Ben's parents originally joined etyres as Franchise Owners of the Crewe territory in October 2001 and Ben later joined the family business. In 2008, Ben decided that he wanted to move south and as this coincided with his parents' wish to retire a territory swop was organised with the vacant area of Cambridge. Being familiar with the business, Ben hit the ground running and within a few months needed to add a second van to cope with the flood of orders. Ben's branch is always at, or near, the top of our "most tyres per van" ranking. It was clearly the Right Move for all concerned.

Derby

derby franchise Some people have a baptism of fire when they start up a new branch, but Mike Nistoreanu was literally left out in the freezing cold.

Mike launched the Derby branch during a bitter November, which meant he had to start getting to grips with the business as the UK shivered in freezing temperatures.

"I think it says a lot that even when I was working in sub-zero temperatures I was still enjoying the actual job and knew I'd made the right decision", he said.

"I had been looking for a franchise business for several years and one of the deciding factors for me was that etyres is a BFA member and that the business has been established for so long."

"I also like the fact that selling tyres is a sustainable business, people will always need tyres and even if they are opting for premium brands they still want to get the best price out there."

"I also believe etyres is a business I can throw myself into."

A former service and repair technician for Virgin Media for 15 years, Mike also knew that he enjoyed taking a pride in offering excellent customer service and he was looking for the opportunity to utilise his organisational skills.

"For years I have worked for other people and I knew that I had the ability and the skills to be my own boss - so I took the plunge."

"All my customers have been very pleased with the service and the concept behind etyres", he said.

Guildford

guuildford franchise When Steve Clark joined etyres he wanted to a secure a better future for his family.

Within three months of opening the Guildford branch he was already hitting his year two target and looking to take on an extra van and employ a fitter.

After 18 months he had grown his business even further to incorporate a second territory and a third van.

Steve, who turned his back on the world of printing, said: "I chose etyres because people are always going to need tyres and I could see this was a company that was doing well even during the recession."

"I definitely made the right decision. We are working flat out at the moment because there is so much work out there."

"I am really enjoying building the business up and it is a big help to have the support of the head office team."

Kingston

kingston franchise Within a few weeks of starting his new etyres business, Mark Pearce knew he'd made the right choice when he was called out to a well-heeled customer who needed new tyres for a smart Mitsubishi.

"We had to do the job right outside a major high street tyre depot, but our customer said he had vowed years earlier never to use them, because they'd ripped him off when he was a young lad!"

"It was quite funny, but it drives home the fiact that a lot of people don't trust the major high street depots and that they are just looking for a straight-forward, cheap and convenient service - which is why I came to etyres."

In fact, Mark first heard of etyres from a friend who was a satisfied customer. Previously, Mark was working in the world of underground utility detection and survey services, but the construction industry was suffering due to the global economic downturn.

Mark said: "I was looking to invest in a recession-proof business and etyres was a natural choice. I quickly took on a fitter and an additional van so that I could split my time between fitting and marketing in order to grow the business."

"It's going well. Business is increasing by around 10% every single month, because more people are coming to us - often from word-of-mouth recommendations or because they are repeat customers - for better value and more convenience."

Lancaster

Chris signed up as an etyres Franchise Owner in February 2005, after a number of years with a Mercedes-Benz main dealer. From this Chris had gained valuable motor trade experience as well as excellent customer service skills. As his sales increased, Chris was soon working to full capacity and so he enlisted the help of his brother who joined him full time to fulfil all the orders. In October 2009, the territory of Cumbria became available when husband and wife team, Paul and Karen, decided to sell their etyres branch to concentrate on their other business activities. Chris now has a dominant position in the whole of the area and will continue to grow his sales and profits.

Luton

Partners Alex and Oliver became etyres franchise owners in August 2005, when they bought the Luton territory. They soon bought the adjacent Milton Keynes territory and added Bedford in 2010. Now operating seven vans they have developed into a £1m per year business. The way in which worked to grow their business by following the etyres formula has been such a model of excellence that in 2008 we invited them to join the management of etyres ltd. They play a vital part in training new recruits, piloting new innovations and the continuing development of our systems and processes. They are also responsible for etyres network support where they command the highest credibility through having actually done it themselves! We are very lucky to have colleagues and Franchise Owners like Alex and Oli.

Maidstone

With very little experience of life in the UK, Polish born Marcin identified our franchise opportunity and joined etyres in September 2010. And what a model of hard work and dedication he has proved to be. The positive feedback from happy customers soon translated into recommendations and repeat business and within weeks his branch became profitable. In August 2011 the re-sale of the neighbouring Tunbridge Wells territory became available. Marcin immediately seized the opportunity and now operates three vans covering the twin territories. He is well on his way to being one of the leading etyres Franchise Owners.

Manchester

Lisa and Stuart joined the etyres franchise network in December 2008 and they made fast progress. A second van was soon needed as sales increased and seeing the huge potential they invested further by buying an adjoining franchise territory in August of the following year. Their year on year sales continue to grow as does the volume of their repeat business Stuart and Lisa's first franchise territory covers an area east of the M6 along the M62 corridor and stretching out past Trafford Park. Their second area includes Warrington and a large area on the west of the M62. These large areas are typical of the allocation for an etyres franchise territory.

Newcastle

With previous respective experience in marketing and IT management Victoria and Jeremy Valentine were looking for a franchise opportunity and identified etyres. They immediately related to our business model and they joined our network as Franchise owners of the Newcastle territory in January 2011, and set about establishing an impressive track record. From a standing start Jeremy quickly won valuable local contracts and Victoria created numerous marketing initiatives. In their first month 128 tyres were fitted. At this rate the branch will quickly develop into a management franchise.

Portsmouth

Pam and Stuart Cass became the first Franchise Owners in May 1996 when the business concentrated on tyres for the fleet and lease car markets. In those days the Internet was in it's infancy and etyres was two years away from being launched. But even without the flood of on-line sales that was to follow, Stuart and Pam grew their business into a multi-van branch within six months. In 2010, nearly fifteen years later, with their drive and determination undiminished, Stuart and Pam decided to buy the adjoining Southampton territory. A successful business relationship as long is testament to the benefits of ethical franchising for all concerned. Our Customers must be delighted as well because the repeat business and positive feedback just keeps on coming.

Reading

From a background in senior retail management Brendan joined the etyres franchise network in October 2008. It did not take Brendan long to grow to a point where a second van was needed and he was on his way to achieve his objective of owning a multi-van, multi territory etyres business. Positive feedback is always a good indicator of a well run franchise branch and there is a constant stream of reports from happy customers about the service that they receive from Brendan's branch. From the outset Brendan's plan was to expand his business to the west of Reading so when the adjoining Oxford territory became available as a re-sale in August 2011 Brendan lost no time in snapping up this well established multi-van business.

Slough

Keith and John joined in January 1997. Operating from a small business unit in Chalfont St Peter they got off to a flying start and after a few months they bought the adjoining franchise territory of Watford. Keith and John's sales and profits increased still further as more vans were need to satisfy the demand that started to be generated by the on-line sales by etyres. In January 2002, the High Wycombe territory became available as a re-sale and Keith and John lost no time in adding this to their business. We are very proud of long-standing business relationships such as the one that exists with Keith and John. It is a perfect example of ethical franchising working for the benefit of all the stake-holders.

Swindon

Paul joined us in April 2007, after leaving the Army and looking for a franchise opportunity. Like other ex-military personnel in the etyres franchise network he soon found that we share a desire to work with clear and consistent systems and processes. These ensure efficiency which translates into high levels of customer satisfaction and increased profitability. By following the etyres franchise system and through hard work and determination Paul grew his business and soon needed a second van to cope with the demand. This month-on-month, year-on-year growth continues as repeat customers and increasing volumes of etyres on-line sales are generated in Paul's busy territory.

Tamworth

Husband and wife team Andi and Dave Andrew are driving their etyres franchise forward at an impressive speed. Within eight months of taking on the Tamworth territory, they had their second van on the road. After just 18 months with the UK's leading online tyre company they have their ultimate goal in their sights."Our goal is to have three or four employees, including an administrator," explained Dave, who turned his back on a career as an IT manager to join etyres because he wanted to "get out of the rat race" and be his own boss."This is still well within our sights and if we continue to grow our sales we will take on another fitter and van by the end of the year.""We offer an excellent personal service, with low prices and mobile fitting, so we retain all our customers. Now we are concentrating on promoting the brand so we can saturate our area as heavily as possible.""We are also enjoying growing the business together and work well as a team. We have agreed roles - Andi looks after the admin and accounts, plus she liaises with the customers and head office. She usually does the orders (she's very good at knowing which supplier has the best price for specific tyres). She also plans the routes and makes the early morning call to the customers letting them know what time to expect us.""I handle the marketing and help with the fitting." "We know we retain our customers and get a lot of recommendations, now we are focusing on front-loading to increase our business."

Walsall

Martinette and Gary bought their etyres franchise in March 2010, after Gary was made redundant in the first round of cut-backs at MG Rover Longbridge. Their objective was to develop a multi-van business but to get things started Gary concentrated on fitting the tyres and Martinette organised the administration and marketing. The business grew steadily and, seeing the potential, when the opportunity presented itself they invested further by buying the adjoining franchise territory to the north. The next step was the appointment of an additional fitter and a purchase of a second van. This moved them onto the next level. Martinette and Gary are now well placed to capitalise on the continuing growth of etyres on-line sales and the repeat business that will follow.

About Us

etyres was the UK's first online tyres company. It launched in 1999 and for more than a decade it has transformed and led the way that tyres are sold and fitted across the country.

We have put down deep roots in the internet tyres industry and this has enabled us to grow stronger and faster than our rivals.

An independent report * into the tyres industry said of etyres: "sales growth and profit margins are better than the industry's largest player".

We initially began operating as Fleet Mobile Tyres in 1992, concentrating on tyres for the fleet and lease car market. The first Franchise Owners joined in 1996 and they are still trading successfully. Others soon followed and are also still operating profitably.

Soon after that the Internet started to rapidly change the business landscape and we recognised the potential to sell to the public through this exciting new market place.

With our combination of online ordering, mobile tyre fitting and low overheads, we make massive operational savings compared to the traditional high street depots and we pass them on to our customers in the form of lower prices - up to 40% cheaper than the big name fast fit chains.

Everything, from our use of familiar faces, like Eamonn Holmes and Vicki Butler-Henderson, in our videos, to our tyre price comparison chart, is aimed at showing the customer they are in the hands of experts.

Our website set the standard and system for selling tyres on the internet which is now used by everyone and we were the first to feature a regular price check section.

We were also the first online tyres company to feature video on its website and use carefully selected celebrity endorsements to drive our message home.

We offer a complete package, from online ordering (but with a call centre for customers who need to speak to member of the team) to a mobile fitting service provided by teams across the country who are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and conform to the highest safety standards. Even the global recession had a positive impact on our business and sales soared as consumers went online to find cheaper deals for essentials like tyres.

Our Success is your Security!
