Porsche Cayman tyres

The original Cayman was designed as a hard-roofed version of the open-top Porsche Boxster. Effectively this made it the smaller brother of the famed 911. The newest version of the Cayman is true to its DNA and looks less like the Boxster and more like the 911 itself. In common with both of its relatives, the new Cayman is a spectacular performance car. It’s one which has reviewers and drivers alike reaching for the Thesaurus in the search for more superlatives. By all accounts it’s a fantastic car, just a magnificent two-seater example of Porsche’s engineering prowess.

As with all Porsche models, choosing a replacement tyre for the Cayman is a specialist process. Owners will need to concentrate their focus on a range of premium tyres in special Porsche-approved formats. Drivers of more ordinary cars, in contrast, are faced with a broader range of factors to consider.

etyres supplies and fits Porsche-approved versions of tyres from various well-known brands, amongst them Bridgestone, Goodyear, Pirelli, Continental and Michelin. All of these tyres will provide the high levels of grip, safety and handling demanded by the Cayman. They are high-performance tyres to suit such a high-performance car.

The standard tyre size of the Cayman is 18 inches, with the low-profile tyres and alloy wheels you’d expect, However, even sportier 19-inch and 20-inch versions are fitted to the Cayman S and Cayman GTS models respectively.

Incorrect tyre pressures would have an enormously detrimental effect on the Cayman’s safety and performance. They would also lead to an alarming increase in tyre wear. As such, the Cayman is factory-fitted with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. This enables the pressure of each tyre to be monitored easily and will automatically alert the driver if pressure in any tyre is too low or too high. The cars are therefore not equipped with a spare wheel, no bad thing in view of the limited storage space available. A tyre repair kit is however provided for emergency use.
